Why Practice Classification?

  • Classification is part of the General Intelligence & Reasoning syllabus of CBT 1
  • Builds the habit of naming what three options share before choosing
  • Number and letter questions train quick checks for primes, squares, cubes and letter gaps
  • Each set is 15 questions in 12 minutes with 1/3 negative marking

Concepts You Will Master

  • Word groups: categories such as fruits, metals, planets, hormones, national parks
  • Number properties: prime, perfect square, perfect cube, n² ± 1, n³ − 1, n(n + 1), multiples
  • Number-pair rules: square, cube, n(n + 1), n² + k, n³ ± k
  • Letter-cluster gaps and opposite-letter pairs (A–Z, B–Y …)

Preparation Tip

Before marking an answer, say in one line what the other three share (for example, "all are prime"). If two options seem odd, look for a stronger common property in the remaining three. Keep a list of squares up to 30² and cubes up to 15³.

About Classification

Classification (odd one out) questions give four items, three of which share a property. These six sets cover word groups, number properties, number-pair rules and letter-cluster patterns. Every question has an explanation in English, Hindi and Hinglish, and every option says why it belongs to the group or not.
