Why Practice Direction Sense?

  • Direction Sense questions appear regularly in CBT 1
  • Builds the habit of tracing a path on rough paper
  • Pythagoras-based distances also help in the Mathematics section
  • Each set is 15 questions in 12 minutes with 1/3 negative marking

Concepts You Will Master

  • Left and right turns from any facing direction
  • Straight-line distance with Pythagoras (3-4-5, 6-8-10, 5-12-13)
  • Clockwise and anticlockwise turns in 45° steps
  • Morning sun in the East and evening sun in the West

Preparation Tip

Draw North at the top of your rough sheet and mark every turn. Turning right from North points East; turning left points West. For distance, add the East–West and North–South parts separately before using Pythagoras.
